The new programs of study are laid out in a format where several subjects can share key concepts and develop opportunities following cross curricular dimensions.   CIE High School  covers  the equivalent  of  Key Stage 3  ( Years  7 , 8,  9  )  and  Key Stage 4 (Years 10, 11, 12  )  with  Lower  Sixth  Form at year 12  ,  of the British  State  Education  system. Lower sixth form are college level  subjects  using Cambridge  GCE-A curriculum.   Key Concepts of Learning  are  :

Students at Key Stage 3 will undergo higher assessment for their skills in the English language through Cambridge ESOL.   Students in Year 7 will sit in the Cambridge ESOL-KET exams.  This exam recognises the ability to cope with every day written and spoken communications at basic level encouraging the development of abilities which can be used while traveling as well as in study.  Students in Year 8 will sit in the Cambridge ESOL- PET exams.  This test provides evidence of practical skills and indicates sufficient practical use in travel, study and work situations.  Students in Year 9 will sit in the Cambridge ESOL-FCE exams.  FCE  is an upper-intermediate English exam which shows that a learner in English  has English proficiency with  ability to  : a)  start working in an English speaking environment,     b ) pursue  higher  studies  in other  international  educational  institutions  where  sufficient  certified  English  proficiency is required.   

 

Also at Year 9, which is the final year of KS3, students will sit in the Cambridge Secondary Checkpoint  test to determine the academic progress and achievement in Math, Science and English in terms of global standards.

Routines for Years 7, 8 and 9:

 

- Schedule of classes is from Monday until Friday.

- Duration of daily classes is 7 hours and 15 minutes.

- Non-Academic programmes will be designated on Fun Days which will be scheduled

      once every week.

- All written assignments will be done in school during Study Period. There will be no

      homework assigned except for reading assignments.

- The school provides reinforcement tutorials after class hours.  This service is extended

      free of charge and is recommended only to students in need of academic assistance.

 

Key Stage 4 is the most crucial stage of High School. CIE incorporates the best in international education for learners at this level.   CIE integrates Cambridge IGCSE on the first two years of Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and 11) providing excellent preparation for the advanced stages and higher education progression routes. The curriculum is developed in line with changing needs, and is regularly updated and extended.

 

On the final year of Key Stage 4, CIE incorporates the Cambridge GCE A-Levels, which has a high profile amongst international schools around the world. This qualification have widespread international recognition as educational qualification because it is a rigorous programme that encourage high academic standards.   CIE Students acquire internationally benchmarked qualifications providing excellent preparation for university education.

 

At Years 10 and 11, students sit in the Cambridge IGCSE exams which is a highly valued qualification globally.  It is widely recognised by higher education institutions and employers around the world as evidence of academic ability.  In some countries, this qualification satisfy the entry requirements for university.  In others, they are widely used as preparation for A-Level, International Baccalaureate and US Advanced Placement courses.

 

At Year 12, students sit in the Cambridge GCE-A Level examinations.  This qualification is widely recognised and valued by universities and employers alike.  Some US universities give up to a year’s credit as a result.  Every year, thousands of Cambridge International A Level students gain places at good universities worldwide - including the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.
